Many britons are concerned about the cost of Christmas and how they will manage.

It was revelaed that 45 per cent of those questioned by CreditExpert, that consumers have concerns over the extra expense involved over the Christmas period and what the impact will have on their spending. It has also been reported by the credit file company, that four in ten Brits are planning to spend less money on presents than they did in 2007, in order that they manage their money over the Christmas and new year period. This shows that consumers are looking to spend an average of 301, that’s 22 per cent lower than the 384 spent in 2007.

It seems to be that these concerns about getting to grips on spending, has made it more dramatic due to the current financial climate, some 53 per cent of people have found that the credit crunch is causing them to struggle more when it comes to managing their money.

23 per cent of Britons are preparing to raid their savings, while 12 per cent are hoping to get overtime or attempting to secure a pay rise to manage various expenses in the run-up to Christmas. Another solution could be to get a cheap loan, if looking for an effective way to borrow to cover the cost of Christmas.

Meanwhile, just over a quarter of those surveyed state that they are going to celebrate this Christmas in the manner that they have always done and will only think about the financial consequences of doing so in the new year. However, it could possible that on January 1st they wake up to a financial hangover which leaves them developing problems in managing repayments on personal loans, credit cards and household bills.

The study also showed that some 39 per cent of people are set to recycle old presents, by giving old or unwanted gifts they received in previous years to friends or family members. Jim Hodgkins, managing director of CreditExpert, said: “How much we spend this year on Christmas is a concern for many of us and recycling presents might seem like an attractive option. Just be careful you keep a close track of your gifts so you dont end up in the sticky situation of the present landing back in the hands of the person originally giving it - or anyone they know!

Whatever you do spend this Christmas, you can improve your finances by remembering the crucial thing is to borrow responsibly. To give yourself the best chance of getting a good deal with a lender, its important to check your credit report to make sure you have a good credit status.”

A recent study by Savebuckets showed that just under a quarter of Britons are still paying off debt from last Christmas. If looking to borrow money to cover the cost of Christmas, you may want to consider a low-cost loan to pay for presents or food. By choosing this option, consumers can meet these expenses quickly, but leave them with an affordable monthly repayment each month.

The price of getting a college education has risen so dramatically in recent years that regardless of whether or not your parents have set up a college fund for you, you will probably be in need of additional funds. Many college students wind up out of money entirely at some point during the time they spend studying at a college or university.

Getting a private student loan might be the right choice for you if you are currently strapped financially. Even though the interest rates charged on private student loans are higher than their federally funded counterparts, it is much easier to qualify for and obtain a private student loan than it is to get one from the federal government.

Getting Your Private Student Loan

The first step you should take, before you fill out any loan applications, is to analyze your own financial circumstances. Remember that you should never borrow more money than you will need to pay for your educational expenses.

You will need to get your finances under control now so that you will be prepared to pay back a loan when the time comes, which it most certainly will. In order to determine how much money you will need to borrow in order to complete your college education successfully, calculate the amount of money you spend in one semester by listing what you need to buy and how much each item costs.

Once you have listed out your expenses, make a list of all of your sources of income. This would include the amount of money you will earn working at any job you might have. Your college fund also counts as income.

Next you should compare how much money you can expect to have coming in with the amount of money that you expect to need to spend each semester on college expenses. You will need to get private student loans for the amount of money left over in the expense column after you have subtracted all of your income. You should also add about 10% to that number so that any changes in prices and inflation will be accounted for.

Note that with the rising cost of living in the country today, you have to be prepared for any eventualities. Never be caught off guard when it comes to your finances.

This is a good question and not one in which people understand very well when thinking about their financial lives. When you think about your finances and you think about buying different products in your life, you have the need for a loan at times and you will need for a line of credit at times.

Let’s discuss when it is wise to use a line of credit versus when it is better to get a loan.

A loan is when you receive a lump sum of money under set terms and conditions for repayment, with a set interest rate and monthly payment. For example, your mortgage is a loan. The terms of the loan are fully disclosed to you when you receive the money so you know exactly when you are expected to have the loan paid in full.

When purchasing a car you obtain a loan. You can discuss with the car dealer or your banker the terms that best fit you and what you want the life of the loan to be. Of course the shorter the life of the loan is the less you will pay back in interest.

Of course, all of your monthly payment is not going toward paying down the principle of the loan. Much of that payment is applied to interest.

At the outset, the majority of the monthly payment you will be applied to interest. As time goes by this changes and you begin to pay more towards the principle each month.

A line of credit works differently in that it is an amount of money available to you to use when and as you see fit. You may set up a line of credit without having a specific purpose for the money at the time. Interest rates for lines of credit are figured based on prime, which is established by the Federal Reserve.

Hopefully this article can help you understand the difference between a loan and a line of credit. It is important to understand the difference between these because each of these financial products has its uses and its place within your financial life.

In the vast majority of cases, individuals who decide to take out student loans in order to pay for the expenses the incur while getting their college education will have to start making payments on those loans six months are they have graduated from college. Even though there are some ways to qualify for student loan forgiveness, this is not like asking for forgiveness from your mother when you were a kid. In order to qualify for student loan forgiveness you will have to meet some rather stringent requirements.

Government funded education loans can be forgiven in whole or in part by participating in military service, volunteering, doing legal or medical work, or teaching. For example, volunteering with AmeriCorps will reduce your federal student loan debt by $4,725. This program will also provide you with money for living expenses during your time away. Working with the Peace Corps also reduces your federal student loans by 15% for each year of volunteer work completed.

When individuals who volunteer with Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) complete 1,700 hours of volunteer work with the poor their federal student loans will be reduced by $4,725. Military service also affords people with certain amounts of forgiveness to their student loans.

Providing Services Where It Is Most Needed

There is a great lack of teachers in many poor areas and schools have a hard time finding qualified teachers for their students. New teachers can receive forgiveness on some of their government loans if they are willing to teach in certain schools and school districts. In most cases, these programs reduce total debt by 15% during the first and second years of work in a qualifying school.

Another 20 percent of the total can be dropped during the third and fourth year with another 30 percent cut in the fifth year, meaning that 85 percent of the loan balance can be forgiven after five years.

Many law schools and medical schools also offer student loan forgiveness if their graduates agree to fulfill obligations providing service to the poor or economically challenged residents in certain communities. In addition to receiving student loan forgiveness, they also receive valuable experience in real life settings.

Those students who do not qualify for student loan forgiveness may look at federal student loan consolidation if they received funding for their education from more than one source. Often consolidation through the government can reduce the monthly aggregate payments required on several student loans.

Today all over America, Hispanics are using loans to make big purchases.

The reason for this behavior is simple, they do not have the money to pay for the full prices of merchandise that they want.

But not all Hispanics take out loans because some would rather pay with cash than take out loans.

But when it comes to making big purchases for some reason Hispanics are paying by taking out loans.

The weekend is the time with Hispanics go out and make purchases. Some weekends Hispanics buy furniture on credit or else their vehicles.

Big purchases is like an event for Hispanics. They take the whole family to pick up a new car or to help move furniture.

Because of this families with Hispanic background will stay together. One of the problems about this is that they all follow the same principles, buying on credit. So their credit can pass, they co-sign for each other.

Hispanics continue to go deeper into debt by taking out loans to make purchases. They just need to be educated on how to properly use money.

So Hispanics continue to make minimum payments for their purchases.

If you are seeking stability, then there is little that is more stable than a fixed rate mortgage. These loans have a set interest rate that does not change over the course of the loan. Unlike many other loans and mortgages, these are set in stone unless you modify them. Other mortgages change often due to interest fluctuation, which can be a problem for you and your finances.

Imagine if you had a mortgage that was valued at $100,000, and the interest rate was around 5%. A year later, it could go up to 7%, or even 8%. Interest rates can be very unreliable, and change more often than the weather. Its not any fun to worry about the interest fluctuating so heavily, so if at all possible, a fixed rate mortgage is the best option for your financial situation.

Fixed rate mortgages offer flexibility in the other parts of your life, such as planning vacations and other bills that you may need to pay. Fixed rate mortgages will only change, if you choose to change the interest that is associated with it. Its never fun to pay more than you originally anticipated.

If you already have a mortgage loan, then it is increasingly possible for you to change your loan to be a fixed rate mortgage. You have to apply though, and you must meet the eligibility factors that are involved. Not everyone will be approved to change their mortgage to a fixed rate one. If you have a fixed rate mortgage, but the interest has recently lowered; then you can refinance and switch to the lower interest rate.

These fixed rate options can be made effective if you start off with it. Fixed rate mortgages are generally low, and remain low. The only downside is that in the event the interest lowers, you will still pay the higher fixed rate. If the interest goes up, you will still pay the lower interest rate. It is generally a win-win situation for the borrower, especially with peace of mind knowing that you have to pay the same amount every year.

If you have a fixed rate mortgage currently, then it is possible to change it and get a refinance or a loan modification. These modifications can lower the interest, so that it is fixed at a lower interest rate, versus your higher one. This is typically done when the fluctuating interest is at a low point.

Fixed rate mortgages are fantastic for anyone that wants some stability in their life as far as bills and making payments for things can go.
